As we began exposing the full length of Burials 1 and 2, we were able to finally conclude that another burial lay immediately above Burial 1. Also, as Burial 2 was pedestaled for clearer delineation of the burial pit, another cranium appeared right at the North wall of unit S10E1, while at the same time a piece of iron tool jutted out at the same North wall although unrelated to the exposed cranium (which we have labeled as Burial 3).
Among the significant associations with Burial 3, albeit only the cranium of skull has been exposed yet, is a melon shell (
Melo diadema)
clearly crafted to be used as a scoop of some sort, perhaps for use in bathing or scooping up water. Near it was a piece of stone, perhaps for use in sharpening iron tools.
